Youth Housing Manager

Details: Housing Assistance is seeking a motivated and compassionate Youth Housing Manager to join the Tenant Experience team within the Client Services Branch. As a Youth Housing Manager, you will build trusted relationships with young people and work collaboratively with government, community and support services to promote successful tenancy outcomes. You will provide advice, coordinate supports, respond to tenancy issues, and assist young people to develop the skills and confidence needed to live independently and achieve their goals.

Success in this role requires strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement, resilience, and a commitment to delivering person-centred, trauma-informed services.

The Client Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of social housing services across the ACT, including the allocation, management and maintenance of public and community housing. The division also delivers programs that prevent homelessness, support people experiencing crisis, and foster stronger, more connected communities.

The Tenant Experience team manages more than 11,000 public housing tenancies and works closely with tenants and stakeholders to address a broad range of complex issues. Through proactive engagement and coordinated support, the team helps sustain tenancies, resolve neighbourhood concerns, improve service delivery, and monitor property conditions to ensure homes remain safe and suitable.

The Housing Young People Program (HYPP) plays a critical role in supporting young people aged 16 to 25 who are transitioning from Out of Home Care or Youth Justice care. Using a continuity of care approach, the program provides young people with a dedicated Youth Housing Manager who supports them to establish, maintain and succeed in social housing. In exceptional circumstances, the program can also support young people outside standard eligibility criteria where there are a demonstrated benefit and an opportunity to reduce the risk of homelessness or unstable housing outcomes.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:  

• Current driver’s license
• A current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to: Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra.
• As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, and capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
• Relevant qualifications or strong-demonstrated industry experience in Social Work, Community Development or a related field (preferred but not essential).
