About the role
Join MacKillop’s Education and Engagement team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
We are currently seeking a part-time (3 days per week) for a fixed term until March 30 2027, Education Specialist to join our team based out of our Forest Hill office.
About The Role
As an Education Specialist you will develop strong, supportive professional relationships to engage students and provide a safe and stimulating environment for learning.
In this role you will support young people living in Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) settings to engage in education, experience success in learning and enhance the learning outcomes. You will be working with support services to plan and deliver high quality trauma-informed engagement strategies.
The successful candidate will have relevant experience working with disengaged youth (age 12-17), preferably with experience in supporting students living in out-of-home care.

This is a Part-Time (22.8 hours per week - 0.6 EFT) Fixed term opportunity until March 30, 2027 based in East Metro within our MacKillop Education and Engagement Programs.

Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role you will have:
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
Appropriate experience and qualifications in education.Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. A sound understanding of how trauma impacts on learning. Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans. A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.

Valid and current Driver’s Licence;Satisfactory Criminal History Check;Valid Employee Working with Children Check; OR a valid VIT registrationValid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check
