About the role
We are in search of a marine professional leader to assist management with safety and protocol procedures, ensuring the delivery of our unique, world-class tours. This role is essential in providing our guests with the highest levels of service and safety during their experience on board. We seek a Master who takes genuine pride in offering top-notch guest services and effectively leads their crew to create unforgettable experiences. The work is mainly in Perth, Western Australia during April - Dec and swings in Bremer Bay, Western Australia January - March.
Key responsibilities
Present and deliver world-class experiences for our guests
Safely navigate around various whale species in a respectful and professional manner while adhering to whale-watching regulations
Command a 25-meter surface drive vessel according to our Safety Management System, including conducting safety drills, crew inspections, and ensuring all crew are properly inducted and trained in their roles
Safely navigate to and from the continental shelf on full-day tours
Conduct vessel transfers between Perth and Bremer Bay incorporating passage plans
Maintain engine room safety, cleanliness, and daily servicing
Conduct regular safety drills
Ensure your vessel is kept clean, seaworthy, and mechanically sound, instructing staff to adhere to these standards
Manage and lead crew effectively, maintaining high standards of service and presentation
Report directly to management
About you
Masters: NC <45 - Master Class 4 or higher
NC <24 with a minimum of 5 years minimum actual command of vessel experience considered
Marine Engine Driver II (MED2)
High-Speed Fast Cat (24m+) – Jet/Surface drive experience preferred
Perth based candidate preferred
International candidates encouraged to apply
Proven leadership skills and effective people management
Excellent vessel handling skills, including close quarters and cetacean interactions
Strong work ethic demonstrating reliability
Excellent communication with management, crew, and customers
Proven track record in reporting and accountability
Experience in the tourism industry is preferred
Respectful of all marine life and its environment
