Workshop Supervisor – Western Mechanical Corrigin

Western Mechanical is seeking an experienced and capable Workshop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy mechanical workshop in Corrigin.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can coordinate people, equipment and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship and productivity.

Working with a varied fleet of heavy vehicles, civil construction machinery and mobile plant, you will oversee workshop activities, support the mechanical team and ensure servicing and repairs are completed efficiently and to the required standard.

About the role

As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating workshop activities, supervising employees and contractors, and helping ensure equipment is maintained, repaired and returned to service safely and efficiently.

You will work closely with management, operators and project personnel to prioritise maintenance requirements, manage breakdowns and keep workshop operations running effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support workshop employees, apprentices and contractors

• Coordinate daily workloads, servicing, repairs and breakdown response

• Allocate work according to operational priorities and employee capabilities

• Monitor the progress and quality of work completed

• Assist with fault diagnosis, repairs and maintenance when required

• Ensure scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance activities are completed

• Coordinate parts, materials, tools and external repair services

• Maintain accurate job cards, service records and maintenance documentation

• Review reported faults and ensure defects are appropriately assessed and actioned

• Ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and ready for operation

• Promote compliance with workplace health and safety requirements

• Conduct toolbox meetings and support ongoing consultation with the workshop team

• Maintain an organised, safe and productive workshop environment

• Communicate equipment availability, repair progress and emerging issues to management

• Identify opportunities to improve workshop systems, efficiency and reliability

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A recognised mechanical trade qualification

• Experience working with light vehicles, heavy vehicles, diesel equipment, civil machinery or mobile plant

• Previous supervisory, leading-hand or workshop coordination experience

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills

• The ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple jobs

• A practical and proactive approach to workshop operations

• Strong communication and team leadership skills

• A sound understanding of workplace safety requirements

• Good record-keeping and basic computer skills

• A current driver’s licence

• The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions

Heavy vehicle licences, automotive electrical knowledge and experience with maintenance management systems will be highly regarded.
