We are currently seeking experienced HSE Advisors to join major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and renewable energy projects across Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for an HSE professional who enjoys working in a hands-on site environment and has experience across electrical, civil, BESS, solar or large-scale renewable energy projects.
The Opportunity We have two positions available, with one position for someone Melbourne-based and willing to DIDO to site, and another for someone based in South Australia.
Melbourne-based HSE Advisor – DIDO to SiteThe successful candidate will be based in Melbourne and travel to the project site on a DIDO roster. The project involves a large-scale BESS installation, including multiple battery containers and large power conversion equipment.
You will work closely with the electrical and construction teams, providing hands-on HSE support across the project and ensuring safe systems of work are implemented and maintained.
South Australia-based HSE AdvisorThe second position will support BESS and renewable energy works across South Australian project sites. You will work closely with either electrical crews or civil construction teams, depending on the stage and requirements of the project.
Key Responsibilities - Provide hands-on HSE support across active BESS and renewable energy construction sites
- Work closely with electrical, civil and construction teams
- Conduct site inspections, safety observations and compliance checks
- Support risk assessments, SWMS/JSA reviews and permit processes
- Monitor compliance with project HSE requirements and procedures
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Facilitate toolbox talks, inductions and pre-start meetings
- Identify site hazards and work with project teams to implement effective controls
- Ensure safe systems of work are understood and followed
- Support electrical works and permit processes where required
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records and reporting
- Build strong working relationships with supervisors, contractors and project management
About You We are looking for someone who is practical, proactive and confident working in a site-based environment. You will be comfortable engaging with trades, supervisors and project management and have the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions.
Ideally, you will have: - Previous HSE experience within BESS, solar, electrical, civil or renewable energy projects
- Strong construction HSE experience
- Electrical experience is highly regarded, particularly familiarity with electrical permits, isolations and controls
- Previous BESS or large-scale solar experience will be highly advantageous
- Experience working alongside electrical crews or civil construction teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of site HSE requirements
- Flexibility to work either a 2:1 or 10:4 roster
- Ability to commence ASAP
