The opportunity Join Greater Western Water and play a pivotal role in protecting and preserving Aboriginal cultural heritage across one of Australia's fastest-growing regions. As the Senior Advisor, Cultural Heritage, you'll provide expert guidance on cultural heritage management across major infrastructure projects, operational activities, and strategic initiatives. Partnering with Traditional Owners, Registered Aboriginal Parties, delivery partners, and internal stakeholders, you'll help embed culturally informed practices that support the protection of Country and contribute to GWW's vision of Thriving People and Country. This designated position offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide frameworks, strengthen relationships with First Nations communities, and drive meaningful outcomes that support reconciliation, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainable project delivery. Your responsibilities will include; Develop and lead Greater Western Water's cultural heritage framework, ensuring compliance under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 & Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 2018, and best practice across projects and operations. Provide expert cultural heritage advice to project and operational teams, supporting the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage and culturally significant sites. Build and maintain trusted relationships with Traditional Owners, Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs), consultants, delivery partners, and regulators. Partner with project teams to integrate cultural heritage requirements into major capital projects, minor works, and operational activities. Drive continuous improvement in cultural heritage management, embedding lessons learned, building organisational capability, and supporting reconciliation outcomes
To be successful in this role you will have: Sound knowledge of Aboriginal cultural heritage management issues relevant to south-eastern Australia. Experience working with RAPs and other Traditional Owner Groups to achieve consensus on key issues relevant to Greater Western Water and secure mutually beneficial outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work in a team with a diverse range of customers and stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Experience managing multiple priorities, structuring your time effectively, and delivering projects and outcomes within agreed timeframes. This role involves frequent travel to various GWW offices and project sites; a current valid Victorian driver's license is essential. This position is designated for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people under s.12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. It is desirable to also have: Knowledge and experience in water industry operations, particularly in relation to Natural Resource Management and Civil Works. Certificate IV in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Management Practical experience working within a registered Aboriginal Cultural Heritage organisation in an equivalent role.
