About the role

Redhill Hospitality is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team in Cairns, QLD. This is a part-time position that offers the flexibility to balance work and personal commitments whilst maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hospitality excellence. Redhill Cairns Living provides short- and long-term accommodation across three properties in Cairns. Our properties include private guest and tenant rooms, ensuites and shared communal areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces. As Housekeeping Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our guests experience immaculate accommodation and facilities, whilst leading and supporting our housekeeping team to deliver exceptional service. This position is strategically important to our operations, as the quality of our housekeeping directly impacts guest satisfaction, reputation, and business success.

Key responsibilities

• Supervising and coordinating housekeeping staff to ensure all rooms and common areas meet our high cleanliness and presentation standards

• Scheduling staff shifts, managing attendance records, and ensuring adequate coverage for all operational periods

• Conducting regular inspections of guest rooms and facilities to maintain consistency and quality assurance

• Training new housekeeping team members and providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback

• Managing housekeeping supplies and inventory, including ordering and stock control

• Responding promptly to guest requests and complaints relating to room cleanliness and maintenance

• Liaising with other departments, including front office and maintenance, to ensure seamless guest experiences

• Maintaining detailed records of room status, cleaning schedules, and team performance metrics

• Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and implementing cost-effective solutions

• Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within housekeeping operations

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in housekeeping within a hospitality setting, preferably in a supervisory or lead capacity

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team

• Demonstrated leadership experience, showing the ability to train, mentor, and manage staff effectively

• Keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards

• Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning products, and equipment, including safe handling practices

• Ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required

• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational challenges

• Proficiency with relevant computer systems and scheduling software is advantageous

• A valid Working with Children Check (if applicable) and willingness to undertake relevant training
