NT WOODEN WINDOWS PTY LTD (Inner West Window Specialists ) We are seeking an experienced and skilled Carpenter to join our specialist team in Marrickville. The successful candidate will undertake carpentry work associated with the repair, restoration, modification and installation of timber windows, doors, frames and related fixtures across residential and commercial projects throughout Sydney. The role requires strong practical carpentry skills, precision and attention to detail, particularly when working with existing and heritage timber structures where components must often be carefully repaired, modified or reproduced rather than replaced.
Benefits Task & responsibilities Study drawings, specifications and site requirements to determine materials, dimensions and appropriate installation and repair procedures. Select, measure, mark, cut, shape and prepare timber and other materials required for carpentry works. Construct, assemble, install, renovate and repair timber structures, fixtures, window frames, door frames and associated components.
Inspect existing timber windows and doors to identify damaged, deteriorated or misaligned components requiring repair or replacement. Repair and restore existing timber window sashes, frames, doors and fittings while maintaining the original character and integrity of the structure. Cut and form timber joints and assemble prepared timber components to produce accurate structures and fittings ready for installation.
Fit, adjust and secure window and door frames and associated timber components to ensure correct alignment, operation and finish. Modify existing timber frames and components to accommodate upgraded glazing, sealing and window performance systems. Replace deteriorated timber sections and repair existing fittings using appropriate carpentry techniques and materials.
Work with timber and, where required, other materials including metals, Perspex, laminates and associated building products. Interpret measurements and specifications accurately and verify that completed structures and installations are level, square and true. Use hand tools, power tools and woodworking equipment safely and effectively.
Maintain high standards of workmanship, particularly when working on heritage and character properties. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety requirements, building standards and company quality procedures. Qualification & experience Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
Relevant practical experience as a Carpenter, preferably involving timber windows, doors, restoration, renovation or detailed finishing carpentry. Strong knowledge of timber construction, repair, installation and restoration techniques. Demonstrated ability to measure, cut, shape, join and install timber components accurately.
Experience fitting and repairing timber window and door frames and associated fixtures. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and measurements. Strong understanding of carpentry tools, machinery, materials and installation methods.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with existing or heritage timber features. Ability to assess existing timber structures and determine appropriate repair or restoration methods. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a specialist team.
Good communication skills and a professional approach when working in customers' homes and on occupied sites. Commitment to workplace health and safety and maintaining clean and organised work areas. Current driver's licence is highly regarded.
