Meat Manager

Freeling Foodland is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Meat Manager to lead our busy meat department. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified butcher or experienced meat retail professional who is passionate about delivering quality products, exceptional customer service, and leading a successful department.

As Meat Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department, ensuring it is well-stocked, profitable, and presented to the highest standard while leading and supporting your team.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the meat department.

• Order stock and maintain appropriate inventory levels to maximise sales and minimise waste.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

• Oversee product quality, freshness, presentation, and merchandising.

• Prepare and cut meat products to the highest standards.

• Monitor department performance, gross profit, stock control, and shrinkage.

• Create value-added products and seasonal displays to drive sales.

• Prepare staff rosters and ensure appropriate department coverage.

• Deliver outstanding customer service and provide expert product advice.

• Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards are consistently met.

• Work closely with store management to achieve sales, budget, and operational targets.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience managing a retail meat department.

• Qualifications as a butcher or extensive experience in retail butchery.

• Strong leadership and people management skills.

• Experience with ordering, stock control, and inventory management.

• Sound commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, margins, and waste management.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.

• A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
