Join Our Team: Protect, Serve, and Make a Difference!
We are the Rural Fire Service (RFS), a dedicated community of volunteers providing fire and emergency services to approximately 95% of NSW. When you work with the RFS, you join a passionate team committed to protecting our neighbours, the wider community, and the environment from the threat of bushfires and other emergencies. With over 70,000 volunteer members and staff, we embody the spirit of mutual respect, support, friendship, and camaraderie. We are one team with many players, united by a single purpose. If you share our passion for community service and environmental protection, we want to hear from you! Become a part of our mission to safeguard lives and our cherished NSW landscapes.
What you’ll be doing:
The General Hand provides administrative and operational support across the District, assisting staff, volunteers and brigades with a range of day-to-day activities. The role involves customer service, administration and coordination tasks that help keep District operations running smoothly.
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities while working as part of a team. This is a practical support role that contributes to brigade readiness and the delivery of services to our volunteers and communities.
Join a close-knit, high-performing team in the heart of the Northern Tablelands, where meaningful work meets an exceptional lifestyle. Enjoy quality schools, safe communities, affordable living, outdoor adventures, local events and a strong sense of belonging, while working with passionate people committed to making a real difference for volunteers and communities.
Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for someone who wants more than just a job. We're looking for someone who is organised, dependable and customer focused. You'll be comfortable undertaking a range of administrative and operational support tasks, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with staff and volunteers.
You will have good communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to supporting the work of the NSW RFS will be key to your success in this role. Above all, you'll contribute positively to the culture around you, because the way we work together is just as important as the quality of work we deliver.
If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please access the Role Description and our organisation structure.
Note: As per the role description, candidates are required to meet minimum essential requirements. If you do not meet the essential requirements for this role, your application may not progress to shortlisting.
