About the role
Join Our Expert Urology Team as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Launceston General Hospital
Launceston General Hospital invites applications for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to join our dynamic and expanding team. Serving a population of approximately 300,000, our unit provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service across North and North-West Tasmania, along with statewide sub-specialist services.
Our urology department is renowned for its supportive and collaborative culture. You’ll be joining a team of four experienced urologists who are committed to excellence in patient care, well supported by a team of registrars, including a SET trainee and clinical nurse specialist.
We have access to state-of-the-art equipment including a da Vinic XI dual console robotic platform.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in satellite clinics and theatre lists at the Mersey Community Hospital as part of the Statewide Urological Service provision, and to participate in SET Registrar training and Multidisciplinary Team Meetings. Subspecialist interests are encouraged. Experience in female urology and robotics is highly valued.
As well as an attractive allowance and relocation package, successful candidates will be eligible for an additional Urology Specialist Allowance of up to $110,000 per annum, pro rata, further to their award rate.

Located in the beautiful Tamar Valley, Launceston is Tasmania’s second major city. It is one of Australia's most liveable and innovative regional cities and regularly ranked as one of the country’s most family friendly. A UNESCO city of gastronomy, Launceston has an exciting restaurant, café and market scene. World heritage wilderness is on your doorstep- the Tamar winelands, Cradle Mountain, world-class mountain biking tracks and golf courses. Launceston has a rich arts scene with over seven theatre spaces hosting events such as the Junction Arts Festival, Mona Foma and Festivalé. Launceston has good transport links with the rest of Australia, with regular flights to all major state capitals, serviced by all three major airlines. Melbourne is only a 45-minute flight away.
Details of Appointment
Fixed Term, part time, day worker with on-call, working 21 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a three-year period.
Please note that a possibility exists for the successful applicant to work in a position of a Visiting Medical Specialist or as a Staff Specialist, hours to be negotiated.
Salary:
Visiting Medical Practitioners
Visiting Medical Practitioners Level 1- Visiting Medical Specialists Level 4 $254,149 - $445,341 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
