About the role
Lead a classroom. Grow into a campus. Build a career that means something.
You've built something strong in your classroom or team. Now imagine helping lead a whole campus. This is your next step: working with the Head of Campus to lead teaching and learning at our Novo Education Wollongong campus, and shaping what students experience every single day.
This isn't a role for someone early in their teaching career looking for their first step up. It's for someone who already influences how other teachers teach and is ready to take on more responsibility for how a campus runs, with a genuine eye on where that leadership could take them next.
What the role looks like
You'll be the senior teacher on your campus (Wollongong Campus), accountable for the quality and consistency of classroom practice; NovoWay pedagogy, ASDAN delivery, and personalised learning built around each student's needs. You'll identify and respond to complex student needs early through ILPs and work closely with the Head of Campus on the Tiered Model of Student Support, student behaviour and wellbeing, with the Head of Campus holding overall accountability for these areas. You'll also lead your own transitional mentor group for students who need more intensive, strategic support, and take a lead role in student recruitment and engagement, working toward enrolment targets and monitoring attendance.
Alongside that, you'll coach and mentor the teaching and learning team, modelling the kind of reflective practice and openness to feedback you'll expect from them, and step into full operational leadership of the campus when the Head of Campus is away.
Who you'll be working with
Novo Education exists for young people in Years 9 to 12 who haven't been able to make mainstream schooling work for them, often for reasons well outside their control. Small classes, one-on-one mentoring and a trauma-informed approach help them rebuild confidence and start seeing a future they can work toward. This role calls for someone who can hold that with genuine care, not by lowering expectations, but by knowing how to meet a student exactly where they are, especially those who are still finding their feet.
What you'll bring
You already influence how other teachers teach, whether that's leading collaborative planning, mentoring colleagues, coordinating the development of a program, or leading a learning support unit or similar team. You've worked with students who need more than a standard classroom approach to thrive, whether that's in a mainstream setting or a special assistance or alternative education environment, and you know how to build a learning journey around a young person's needs. Experience in a special assistance or independent alternative education setting will stand out, as will any exposure to running the operational side of a campus, faculty, or school, even in small ways.
What matters is that you can lead a team and a campus community, and that you're genuinely motivated to keep growing as a leader.
Alongside that, you'll need a relevant tertiary qualification in Education with current NESA accreditation at proficiency or higher, and 5+ years of teaching experience. The right to work in Australia is required, along with the ability to obtain a Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate and National Police Check.
Why join WEA Co
WEA Co has been opening doors to education since 1913, and this role is a genuine chance to keep building on that. Novo Education is growing, and so is the path ahead of you within it, whether that's toward leading your own campus as a future Head of Campus, or becoming the go-to subject matter expert as the school expands. You won't be doing this work alone either. You'll be backed by a Head of Campus who's genuinely invested in getting you there.
On top of that, you'll have access to salary packaging up to $15,900 per FBT year (plus access to a meal entertainment card + other benefits if you choose to participate), our Fitness Passport program, our Employee Assistance Program, and discounts across thousands of retailers through the People Hub perk store, to help with the day to day of cost of living.
