About our team
The Risk and Compliance team manages and provides expert advice on the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of risk management and compliance plans, frameworks, and programs. Key functions include developing and implementing the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, the Compliance Management Framework, and leading the School Accreditation Compliance Review program.

Summary

The Senior Advisor Risk and Compliance plays a key role in strengthening BCE's risk and compliance culture through practical advice, effective frameworks and continuous improvement. This role works across Brisbane Catholic Education Office and BCE schools to support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of risk and compliance management systems, policies, processes and controls. You will provide specialised advice on compliance, risk identification, assessment, mitigation and reporting while partnering with leaders to build capability and support informed decision-making. About the opportunity

In this position you will:  

• Provide strategic risk and compliance advice to support the ongoing improvement of BCE's frameworks, programs and operating practices
• Lead and contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen risk management, compliance processes and organisational governance
• Manage operational aspects of the risk and compliance system, including compliance reviews, findings, recommendations and reporting
• Analyse data and information to identify issues, challenge perspectives, support decision-making and recommend practical solutions
• Develop tools, strategies and advice to improve organisational performance in relation to compliance and risk exposures and governance non-compliance
• Prepare technical reports, committee papers and other documentation to support risk, compliance, assurance, policy and reporting requirements
• Build strong internal and external relationships to share expertise, influence practice and support business outcomes
• Partner with BCEO managers, school leaders and school-based role holders to build risk and compliance management capability

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

• Experience providing strategic advice in risk, compliance, governance, policy or a related field
• Strong understanding of risk and compliance frameworks, systems, processes and controls
• The ability to analyse complex information, identify key issues and provide clear, practical recommendations
• Confidence preparing reports, committee papers and documentation for senior stakeholders
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• The ability to influence, negotiate and positively challenge perspectives to support effective decision-making
• A proactive, improvement-focused approach with a commitment to building organisational capability and operational effectiveness
• Tertiary qualifications in management, risk management, compliance, policy, governance or relevant experience in a similar role would be highly regarded
