Production Manager

About the role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility and play a key role in ensuring production activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

This position is responsible for managing production workflows, coordinating resources, supporting the production team, and improving operational processes to achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will have strong manufacturing knowledge, practical leadership skills, and the ability to work closely with different teams to deliver quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily production operations to ensure orders are delivered on time, within budget, and meet required quality standards.

• Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and operational processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

• Lead and manage production teams, monitor performance, and support staff training and development.

• Monitor production output, costs, resources, and production performance, implementing continuous improvement initiatives where required.

• Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, quality, and management teams to ensure effective production planning and delivery.

• Oversee quality control processes, production procedures, equipment performance, and workplace health and safety compliance.

• Analyse operational performance and provide reports and recommendations to management for process improvements.

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Supervisor, or similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, welding operations, and manufacturing workflows.

• Demonstrated experience managing production teams and coordinating daily manufacturing activities.

• Ability to understand technical drawings, production specifications, and manufacturing requirements.

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet production deadlines.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make practical decisions in a fast-paced production environment.

• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, suppliers, engineers, and management.

• Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

• Relevant experience or qualifications in manufacturing, engineering, production management, or a related field will be highly regarded.
