As Coordinator - Sarina Sugar Shed, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for one of the Mackay region's most distinctive visitor attractions. Responsible for the overall performance and ongoing success of the Sarina Sugar Shed, you will lead business operations, financial management, marketing and promotional activities, stakeholder partnerships, compliance obligations and team leadership.

You will play a key role in enhancing the Sugar Shed's reputation as a leading visitor attraction while driving visitation, commercial performance, community engagement and future growth opportunities.

The Sarina Sugar Shed is a multi-award-winning attraction and an important contributor to the Mackay region's tourism offering. As Coordinator, you will lead the delivery of exceptional visitor experiences while overseeing the commercial, operational and strategic direction of the facility.

The role brings together visitor experience, small business operations, tourism development, marketing support, stakeholder engagement, product promotion and operational coordination. You will play a key part in protecting the Sugar Shed's strong reputation while bringing initiative and fresh thinking to new products, activities, partnerships and visitor experiences that grow visitation, strengthen regional connections and showcase the region's proud sugar cane heritage.

• Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Sarina Sugar Shed, ensuring the delivery of high-quality visitor experiences and achievement of business objectives.
• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets, business plans and growth initiatives.
• Monitor financial performance through forecasting, revenue and expenditure management, reporting and the implementation of appropriate financial controls.
• Develop and deliver marketing, promotional and visitor growth initiatives that enhance the profile of the Sarina Sugar Shed and increase visitation.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with tourism operators, industry partners, schools, community organisations, government agencies, volunteers and local producers.
• Lead, develop and support a team of employees and volunteers through coaching, performance management, training and workforce planning.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, licensing requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, Council policies and operational procedures.
• Monitor industry trends, visitor feedback and business performance data to identify opportunities for innovation, service enhancement and revenue growth.

You are a confident, hands-on and people-focused coordinator who understands the value of exceptional visitor service. You are confident building partnerships, leading teams and driving continuous improvement while balancing operational priorities with long-term growth objectives.

You will bring strong communication skills and experience in tourism, hospitality, events, visitor services, marketing, customer service, retail, small business operations or a related field. Experience coordinating bookings, tours, events, group visits, promotional activities, stakeholder relationships, budgets or back-of-house tourism operations will be highly regarded.

• A current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Experience in tourism, hospitality, visitor services, events, marketing, customer service, small business operations or a related field.
• Relevant qualifications in tourism, hospitality, events, business, marketing or a similar discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

• You are a strong communicator who enjoys bringing people, ideas and partnerships together.
• You are strategic and innovative, with the initiative to identify new products, activities and visitor experiences.
• You are resourceful and commercially aware, with confidence supporting budgets, reporting and day-to-day operations.
• You are collaborative and customer-focused, with a genuine passion for creating memorable experiences for visitors, tour groups and the local community.
• You enjoy leading teams, coordinating moving parts and turning ideas into practical outcomes.
