Cairns Regional Council is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Labourer / Truck Drivers to join our Maintenance North team within the Works Branch. This is an opportunity to build a rewarding career while helping maintain and improve the roads, drains, and public infrastructure that serve our community every day.

What You’ll Do:

As a Labourer / Truck Driver, you'll play a hands-on role in the maintenance and construction of Council assets across the Northern District. No two days are the same as you:

• Perform a variety of civil maintenance and construction labouring tasks

• Drive and operate trucks and work vehicles

• Assist with concrete repairs, formwork, and finishing activities

• Operate small plant and equipment safely and efficiently

• Conduct daily vehicle and trailer safety inspections

• Work collaboratively with your crew to deliver quality outcomes

• Interact professionally with residents, contractors, and other Council teams

• Contribute to a safe, productive, and environmentally responsible workplace

What We’re Looking For:

• Current Queensland Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence

• Construction Industry White Card

• Year 10 education or equivalent with basic literacy and numeracy skills

• Experience driving trucks and undertaking civil, road, or maintenance works

• Experience with concrete repairs, formwork, and concrete finishing

• Strong awareness of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices

• Ability to use or learn digital devices such as tablets and smartphones

• Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
