To support this growth, we’re looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Sedgman Onyx team and play a key role in advancing engineering excellence across our project portfolio.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the delivery of technically robust mechanical engineering outcomes across a diverse portfolio of projects. Provide technical direction and strategic input to support safe, practical and efficient project delivery. Take accountability for mechanical engineering quality, technical integrity, risk management, standards and safety. Plan and coordinate engineering workloads, ensuring project teams are set up to deliver effectively. Work closely with other engineering disciplines to support integrated design and seamless project execution. Review and guide the work of engineers and drafting team members to ensure quality, accuracy and alignment with project requirements. Resolve complex technical challenges and provide clear, practical solutions that support project and client outcomes. Review, update and maintain standard drawings and Sedgman Onyx engineering specifications in line with industry best practice. Coach, mentor and support engineers to build technical capability and strengthen team performance. Build trusted relationships across project teams, clients and stakeholders while demonstrating Sedgman Onyx’s Values in Action.

What You’ll Bring

A Bachelor of Engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering. 15+ years’ experience in a design, consultancy or operational engineering environment. Strong experience across the mining and mineral processing sector, with demonstrated exposure to material handling projects. Sound technical capability in piping design and layout within mining and mineral processing environments. Proven experience leading technical and project teams, with the ability to guide, support and influence engineering outcomes. A practical understanding of project management principles, controls and delivery requirements. Demonstrated success in a senior or similar engineering leadership role. The ability to identify and resolve technical issues, apply sound judgement and escalate where required.
