The Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to take a leading position within our SMSF division while working closely with our broader Business Services team.  You will be responsible for overseeing SMSF engagements, managing workflow, supporting team members and ensuring a consistently high standard of service delivery to clients.

For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity to broaden your exposure through involvement in Business Services work alongside SMSF engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage SMSF engagements from commencement through to completion
• Prepare and review SMSF financial statements, annual returns and compliance documentation
• Process and review transactions within BGL Simple Fund 360
• Liaise with clients, advisors, external auditors and other stakeholders
• Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines
• Assist with superannuation advice and technical matters as required
• Mentor, guide and support junior team members
• Maintain high levels of technical compliance and quality assurance

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical SMSF expertise together with excellent communication and organisational skills.

You will ideally have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualification (or be near completion)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in SMSF accounting within a public practice environment
• Strong knowledge of Australian superannuation legislation and compliance requirements
• Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and auditing requirements for SMSFs
• Experience preparing SMSF financial statements, tax returns and compliance reporting
• High attention to detail and excellent time management skills
• A proactive and professional approach with a genuine commitment to client service
