About the role
This is a permanent, full time vacancy.
Currently, there are two (2) permanent positions available for immediate filling at Melaleuca Women's Prison and Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
This recruitment process may be utilised to fill ongoing fixed term contracts and permanent opportunities at head office based in Perth CBD and across metropolitan and regional prison sites.
About the roles
Intelligence Services assists the Corrective Services Division of the Department of Justice (the Department) to meet its mission by informing tactical, operational and strategic decisions in respect of security and safety through the:
While the primary role to be filled is the Security Intelligence Officer, applicants found suitable but not recommended for these vacancies, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies in Intelligence Services for a period of twelve (12) months. These positions include:
Security Intelligence Officer is responsible for the provision of tactical intelligence support to facility security teams in identifying threats to the safety and security of offenders, staff and the facility. This position is based at various prison facilities within metro and regional areas, with the two current vacancies at Melaleuca Women’s Prison and Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
Intelligence Support Officer provides administrative and intelligence support across Intelligence Services by reviewing information reporting to identify threats to the safety and security of offenders and staff, supporting the provision of timely intelligence advice, and assisting Intelligence Collection in carrying out operational activities. This position is based in Perth CBD.
Suitability Requirements
Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for candidates who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:
Research and Analysis ability to conduct research, make sense of information from a range of sources and provide accurate, timely advice to stakeholders.
Strong Written and Verbal Communication ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally in both written and verbal formats, tailoring communication to diverse audiences and building effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Teamwork and Adaptability ability to work effectively in a team environment, respond to direction, demonstrate initiative, and adapt through ongoing learning and development.
High Level Computer Literacy ability to acquire the requisite skills to use analytical software.
The suitability requirements outlined will be what the panel will assess throughout the selection process.
Eligibility
As a condition of employment, the successful applicant must be eligible for, and successfully obtain and maintain, a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance. Please note that only Australian citizens are eligible to hold an NV1 security clearance.

Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered during this period.
