As Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for the effective delivery and continuous improvement of HR services across the School. Reporting directly to the Principal, this is a hands-on, standalone HR role with responsibility for the full employee lifecycle. The Human Resources Manager works closely with the Principal, executive, leadership team and managers to deliver high-quality people services while ensuring the School meets its employment, industrial relations, workplace safety and regulatory obligations.
This is an opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys both the strategic and operational dimensions of HR and is comfortable personally managing the full breadth of the function.
Key responsibilities
Provide trusted HR and employee relations advice to the Principal, leaders and managers
Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, employment changes and separation
Lead employee and industrial relations matters, including interpretation of Awards and Enterprise Agreements, performance management, grievances, investigations and workplace matters
Support workforce planning, organisational change, employee performance, capability, engagement and workplace culture
Manage HR policies, systems, records, workforce reporting and employment compliance
Coordinate workers compensation, injury management, return to work, employee wellbeing and psychosocial safety
Partner with payroll and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and effective people processes
Drive continuous improvement in HR practices while supporting the School's strategic priorities, values and child-safe environment
About you
You will be an experienced HR generalist with the confidence and professional judgement to independently manage an end-to-end HR function.
You will bring:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Business or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience across the full employee lifecycle
Strong contemporary knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations and HR practice
Experience interpreting Enterprise Agreements, Awards and employment contracts
Demonstrated capability in employee relations, performance management and complex workplace matters
Strong judgement, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
Excellent communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills
The ability to build trusted relationships with leaders and employees at all levels
Strong organisational skills and the ability to independently manage competing priorities
Confidence using HR systems, workforce data and reporting to support decision-making
Experience within an independent school, education or similarly complex employment environment would be highly regarded.
