Structural Engineer

Are you a Structural Engineer who enjoys getting stuck into the detail?

This is an opportunity to join an established Australian business where you'll have the chance to work across structural design, product development, technical problem-solving and customer projects.

This isn't a management role. We're looking for someone who wants to remain close to the engineering - designing, analysing, testing and finding practical solutions to real-world problems.

Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you'll provide engineering support across a range of products and customer applications.

You'll work closely with Sales, Operations, Product Development and Supply Chain, helping turn customer requirements into solutions that are safe, compliant, practical and commercially viable.

Your work will include a mix of design and analysis, technical documentation, product improvement and customer support - so no two days are likely to look exactly the same.

• Undertake structural assessments, calculations and engineering design work
• Provide technical advice on products and customer applications
• Review and prepare engineering drawings, calculations and technical documentation
• Support product development, testing and validation
• Conduct structural load assessments, modelling and analysis
• Help ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and the NCC
• Work with external engineers, consultants and testing providers when required
• Support the Sales team with technical advice, tenders and customer requirements
• Attend customer or project meetings where your engineering expertise can add value
• Identify practical design improvements, alternative solutions and opportunities to reduce cost or simplify installation
• Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure designs are practical to manufacture and implement
• Contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives

We're looking for a hands-on Structural Engineer who enjoys solving problems and seeing their work translated into a physical product or real-world application.

You'll ideally have:

• A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
• Around 3-5+ years' experience in structural engineering, design, construction, manufacturing or a related environment
• Strong understanding of structural design principles and relevant Australian Standards
• Experience with structural analysis/design software such as SpaceGass, Strand7 or similar
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Good understanding of construction methods and practical buildability
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-engineers
• A practical, commercially minded approach to engineering

Experience with steel, fixings, structural products or specialist construction systems would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
