Alkar Refrigeration Services is a family-owned commercial refrigeration company established in 1970. From our Acacia Ridge base, we service supermarkets, industrial facilities, food-processing sites and specialist refrigeration systems throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

You’ll work under highly experienced refrigeration managers, each with more than 40 years in the industry. You’ll also have access to genuine 24-hour technical and management support when difficult problems arise.

This is a genuinely varied refrigeration role, including:

• Supermarket multi-compressor rack systems

• Commercial and industrial refrigeration plant

• CO₂ and newer low-GWP refrigerant systems

• Large cold-storage and freezer facilities

• Individual condensing units and self-contained equipment

• Fast-cooling facilities

• Fruit-ripening and fumigation rooms

• Custom-designed display and storage systems

• Dry-age meat and cold-plate display cases

• Electronic refrigeration controllers and monitoring systems

• Older systems requiring genuine diagnostic and fault-finding ability

You’ll have the opportunity to learn how complete systems operate, program controllers, diagnose both older and modern equipment, and develop into a highly capable commercial refrigeration technician.

Your work may include:

• Fault-finding and repairing commercial refrigeration systems

• Servicing supermarket cases, cool rooms, freezer rooms and rack systems

• Diagnosing electrical, mechanical and control faults

• Compressor replacements and major component repairs

• Refrigeration and air-conditioning installations

• Warranty and breakdown service calls

• Repairing case, door and cold-room hardware

• Preventative maintenance and detailed equipment inspections

• Maintaining accurate job notes and asset information through Simpro

• Test-and-tag work where required

• Communicating clearly with customers and Alkar’s service management team

The normal service workload is Monday to Friday, with participation in a shared after-hours roster. Technicians who want additional variety can also undertake regional supermarket projects and living-away-from-home work.

The on-call roster is organised up to six months in advance, helping you plan around family and personal commitments.

You will ideally have:

• Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

• Current refrigerant handling licence

• Relevant restricted electrical licence

• Current Australian driver’s licence

• Commercial refrigeration service experience

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability

• Good workmanship and attention to detail

• Clear customer communication

• The ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support

Supermarket, rack-system, industrial or CO₂ experience is highly regarded, but it is not essential if you have a strong refrigeration foundation and genuinely want to develop.

• Rates starting from $48 per hour plus super, depending on demonstrated experience

• Company 4WD service vehicle or Van, both with Fuel Card

• Phone and access to Simpro

• $350 on-call allowance

• $200 / night Living Away Allowance

• Additional public-holiday on-call allowance
