Position: Law Student / PLT Intern
Employment Type: Part-time / Internship/ Full Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Location: Hallam, VIC

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated law students and recent law graduates who are looking to gain valuable, hands-on practical experience in a professional law firm environment.

This opportunity is suitable for:

• University law students seeking part-time work experience while completing their studies; and

• Recent law graduates who are required to complete Practical Legal Training (PLT) or an approved legal internship.

Depending on experience and training requirements, you will have the opportunity to assist with:

• Legal research and preparation of legal materials;

• Drafting and reviewing legal correspondence and documents;

• Assisting with client matters and file management;

• Preparing court and tribunal documents;

• Assisting with immigration and other legal matters;

• Preparing and organising evidence and supporting documents;

• Legal administrative tasks and maintaining electronic files;

• Assisting solicitors with day-to-day legal work; and

• Other tasks designed to develop practical legal skills and professional experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Be currently studying a law degree or be a recent law graduate;

• Have a strong interest in developing practical legal skills;

• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;

• Demonstrate attention to detail and strong organisational skills;

• Be reliable, professional and willing to learn;

• Be able to work independently as well as as part of a team; and

• Have a genuine interest in working in a law firm environment.

Previous legal experience is desirable but not essential. Training and supervision will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical, real-world legal experience and develop an understanding of the day-to-day operations of a law firm.

For recent graduates undertaking PLT, the position may provide an opportunity to obtain practical experience relevant to their PLT requirements, subject to the requirements of their PLT provider.
