RSM Melbourne is growing, and we're seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our collaborative and high-performing Business Advisory team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse client portfolio, build your technical expertise, and accelerate your professional development within a supportive and people-focused environment.

Working closely with experienced Managers and Partners, you'll play a key role in delivering business advisory and strategic outsourcing services to a broad range of clients across various industries.

What You'll Be Doing

Business Advisory

• Prepare financial statements in accordance with current accounting and reporting standards.
• Prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
• Analyse financial information and prepare management reports.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and taxation issues.
• Provide advice relating to GST, Capital Gains Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, and other tax matters.
• Assist with client meetings and preparation of supporting documentation.
• Support a broad range of clients with business advisory services.
• Prepare clear and concise workpapers and documentation.

Strategic Outsourcing

• Process daily accounting transactions across a variety of industries.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Process payroll and related obligations.
• Prepare BAS, payroll tax, and superannuation reporting.
• Set up and maintain client accounting files.
• Assist with month-end reporting and management accounts.
• Liaise directly with clients and build strong working relationships.

About you:

You are a motivated accounting professional who enjoys working closely with clients and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Essential Requirements

• Business, Commerce or Accounting degree with an Accounting major.
• Minimum 3 years' experience within public practice accounting.
• Strong proficiency in Xero Accounting Software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable

• CA qualified or currently completing CA (or equivalent professional qualification).
