Chosen Community Foundation
About the role
Chosen Family fosters a community-centric ecosystem that embraces diversity, flexibility, and enrichment for all. We continuously reimagine how our services can create platforms for equality, inclusion, and belonging. Committed to a culture of acceptance, we ensure that everyone is welcomed and valued. Recognising the interconnectedness of our humanity, we strive to empower individuals to live independently. By honouring each person’s unique identity and experiences, we celebrate and uplift one another in return.
What We are Looking For:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and emotionally grounded Disability Support Worker to support Argi, based in Cremorne Point, NSW.
We are particularly looking for a female support worker who is patient, calm, encouraging, and experienced in supporting people with mental health challenges and neurodiversity. Experience supporting individuals with Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, trauma backgrounds, and epilepsy/seizure disorders would be highly beneficial.
The ideal candidate will have strong life experience and understand the importance of providing trauma-informed, person-centred, and empowering support. Argi benefits from clear and direct communication, particularly as she may experience difficulty interpreting metaphors or indirect communication.
A genuine understanding of neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, mental health, and individual autonomy is important for this role. The successful worker should also be respectful and supportive of Argi’s vegan lifestyle.
A current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are essential, as driving and community transport will be a key component of the role.

About the Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be someone who understands that effective support is not about telling someone what to do—it is about working alongside them, encouraging choice, building confidence, and supporting them to achieve their own goals.
You will be someone who is comfortable working with complexity, understands the importance of consistency and trust, and can remain calm and supportive during challenging periods.
If you are passionate about mental health, inclusion, neurodiversity, community participation, and empowering people to live independently, we would love to hear from you.
Apply now to join our team of dedicated Disability Support Workers and make a positive impact in the life of Argi.
We strongly encourage applications from people with a disability, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse people, and LGBTQIA+ people. We welcome and value your lived experience and knowledge. If you are comfortable doing so, please let us know in your cover letter if this applies to you.
