About the role
Cranbrook School is seeking an experienced and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to join St Michael’s Pre-School, located in Vaucluse. This is a part-time, fixed-term parental leave position commencing Term 4, 2026.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The 3 Day Teacher is responsible for leading the teaching and learning of the 3 Day Class, developing and embedding a high-quality program aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and International Baccalaureate (IB) frameworks.
The role involves thoughtfully tracking each child’s learning journey through observations, learning stories and high-quality documentation that provides meaningful evidence of children’s learning and development.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the educators within the class, while working collaboratively as a valued member of the St Michael’s team and contributing positively to the wider Pre-School and Cranbrook community.
This is a fixed-term parental leave position working part-time (0.6 FTE) across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, commencing Term 4 on Monday, 12 October 2026 and concluding Friday, 11 December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027 and reporting to the Pre-School Coordinator.
ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher with a strong understanding of contemporary early childhood pedagogy and a genuine commitment to supporting children’s learning, development and wellbeing.
You will be confident in planning and delivering engaging, intentional and play-based learning experiences that respond to individual children’s strengths, interests, needs and learning goals.
You will demonstrate strong communication, leadership and collaborative skills, with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the teaching and learning program for the 3 Day Class, aligned with the EYLF and IB frameworks
Plan, implement and evaluate high-quality, intentional and play-based learning experiences
Observe, document and assess children’s learning through meaningful observations, learning stories and other forms of evidence
Use documentation and reflective practice to inform ongoing planning and support individual children’s learning and development
Provide leadership and guidance to educators within the 3 Day Class
Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues
Contribute positively to the wider St Michael’s Pre-School and Cranbrook community
Uphold children’s safety, wellbeing, rights and best interests at all times
SELECTION CRITERIA
Strong knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and IB pedagogy
Demonstrated experience planning, implementing and evaluating high-quality early childhood learning programs
Strong observation, documentation and reflective practice skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and support educators within a classroom environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), relevant legislation and regulations, service policies and procedures, and child protection responsibilities
Demonstrated commitment to children’s safety, wellbeing, rights and best interests
Initiative, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement
Minimum Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood
