Trainee Freight Operator - Rockhampton

Location: Rockhampton

Remuneration: $63K plus penalties (nights/weekends) plus super, to increase once qualified

About the role:

Our Rockhampton depot is seeking an additional shunter (trainee) to join the team. This role will suit someone who is keen to commence working in the rail industry with good concentration skills and situational awareness. This role will see you involved in coordinating movements of trains within a complex and busy yard.

• Shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures
• Provide excellent customer service.

About you: 

You are keen to commence or continue a career in the rail industry and are interested in working around heavy equipment.  

• All-encompassing focus on safety along with great people skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work a rotating shift roster including early starts, nights, weekends & public holiday.
• Superior teamwork skills
• Able to work outside for long periods of time.
• Ability to meet CAT 1 Rail Medical Assessment and other pre-offer checks.
• Current unrestricted Class C drivers’ licence

As a part of the company's recruitment and selection process, shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake psychometric testing, criminal history check and successfully pass a pre-employment health assessment that will involve drug and alcohol screening.
