About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced leader to strengthen the frameworks, systems and practices that support safe, high-quality care across our national services.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will provide strategic oversight across Healthdirect’s clinical quality, safety and experience portfolio, leading a high-performing team and partnering with executives, clinical and operational leaders, service providers, jurisdictions and regulators.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee national clinical quality, safety, risk, incident and consumer feedback systems.
• Chair and support significant clinical incident reviews, including classification, escalation, open disclosure and systems-based learning.
• Lead improvement actions arising from incidents, complaints, audits, accreditation findings and emerging risks.
• Oversee quality assurance, call auditing and clinical audit programs.
• Strengthen consumer partnership, complaints management and co-design approaches.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary quality, safety and experience team.
• Build strong relationships with executives, Board committees, jurisdictions, regulators, service providers and external partners.

About You

You are a senior quality and safety leader who can operate confidently in complex healthcare environments. You bring sound judgement, strong stakeholder influence and the ability to turn clinical quality insights into practical, system-wide improvements.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Significant experience in quality management, patient safety and/or clinical governance leadership.
• Experience implementing clinical governance frameworks, incident management systems and open disclosure processes.
• Experience leading accreditation against NSQHS Standards or equivalent healthcare standards.
• Strong capability in clinical quality data analysis, audit, benchmarking and executive reporting.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and influence clinicians, executives, providers and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of open disclosure, duty of candour, child safe organisation requirements and privacy obligations.
• A tertiary qualification in nursing, medicine, allied health or a related health discipline, with current registration where applicable.
• Experience in virtual care, telehealth, telephone triage or clinical contact centre environments is desirable.
