5-Year Executive Contract
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced executive to lead a diverse Development Services portfolio during a significant period of growth and opportunity for the Shire.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this executive leadership role is responsible for the Shire’s regulatory and development functions, including Planning, Building, Environmental Health, Ranger Services and Emergency Management.
This role offers the opportunity to help shape one of Western Australia’s fastest growing regions. With significant population growth, major development opportunities and the future city of Wanju on our doorstep, you will provide strategic direction, trusted advice and strong leadership to support sustainable development outcomes and responsive, high-quality services for the community. Working closely with Council, the CEO and Executive Team, you will bring both technical expertise and contemporary leadership capability to a complex and highly valued portfolio.
What you’ll do:
Provide strategic leadership across the Development Services Directorate.
Lead the planning, building, environmental health, ranger services and emergency management functions.
Deliver expert advice to the CEO, Executive Management Team and Council on complex regulatory and development matters.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation and service excellence across the Directorate.
Foster productive relationships with government agencies, developers, community stakeholders and industry representatives.
Oversee statutory compliance, policy development and strategic planning initiatives.
Build a high-performing and engaged team aligned with the Shire's values and strategic objectives.
About you:
An established and contemporary leader with significant senior management experience.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and technical expertise in Planning, Building or Environmental Health.
Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams through growth, change and organisational improvement.
Strong strategic thinking, governance and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.
Experience working within a political, regulatory or local government environment will be highly regarded.
A commitment to fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and customer focus.
What’s on offer:
Total remuneration package commencing from $202,000 per annum to be negotiated dependent upon skills, qualifications and experience.
Based in Eaton, with access to the lifestyle benefits of Western Australia’s South West.
Full private use of a Shire vehicle or motor vehicle allowance.
5 weeks annual leave.
10 days executive leave per annum.
Negotiated flexible work arrangements.
