The Role

The Finance Operations Manager is a hands-on, individual-contributor role responsible for the day-to-day transactional finance work that keeps our organisation running – smoothly, accurately and efficiently. You’ll personally deliver supplier payments, income processing, reconciliations, payroll administration and federation reporting. The role is focused on managing vital operational work.

Reliable, timely, accurate finance operations free the wider organisation to focus on impact. Your work directly supports the foundations of our strategic flywheel – because none of it turns without a solid financial base.

This role sits within the Business Performance & Optimisation portfolio, reporting to the Financial Controller and Transformation Lead , and works as a key enterprise enabler across the entire organisation.

What You’ll Do

Accounts Payable & Supplier Administration

• Coordinate supplier onboarding, invoice processing, payments, staff reimbursements and corporate card administration — ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain supplier records and compliance requirements, including procurement classifications and anti-terrorism screening.

Reconciliations & General Ledger

• Prepare accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the general ledger is reliable for month-end reporting.
• Reconcile fundraising income between CRM and NetSuite each month, working closely with the Fundraising team.

Payroll Administration

• Liaise with the outsourced payroll provider, checking payroll is processed accurately and on time, and following up on issues promptly.

Federation Reporting & Remittances

• Prepare and submit accurate monthly remittances and reporting to the Plan International Global Hub, including intercompany reconciliation.

Compliance

• Support regulatory and statutory obligations – GST, anti-terrorism screening and DFAT accreditation requirements.
• Apply ethical and inclusive standards to all supplier and payment practices.

Process Improvemen

• Contribute ideas for automation and outsourcing that reduce manual work and free capacity across the organisation.
• Work with the Technology, Data & AI function on system integration and day-to-day process improvements.

How You’ll Work

This is a doing role. You’ll be the primary day-to-day operational finance contact for suppliers, banks and external partners, and you’ll work closely with:

• Fundraising – on income reconciliation
• Technology, Data & AI – on automation opportunities
• Organisational Development & Culture – on payroll and evolving outsourced services
• Plan International Global Hub – on remittances and reporting
• Finance Business Partner and Financial Controller – delivering clean, reliable handoffs

What You’ll Bring

Skills & Experience

• 2-4 years’ experience in an accounts payable, transactional finance or finance operations role.
• Solid understanding of accounts payable processes – supplier maintenance, purchase orders, three-way match.
• Working towards or holding a diploma/certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (full CA/CPA not required for this role).
• Good organisation and prioritisation skills, with an eye for accuracy and detail.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to analyse and problem-solve day-to-day issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Comfort liaising with outsourced providers, suppliers and federation counterparts.
