About Us
Abergeldie is a majority locally owned contractor with 30 years’ industry experience in Australia and New Zealand. We design and deliver projects in the Water, Bridges, Transport, Underground, Energy and Remediation industry sectors. Projects include dams, bridges, tunnels, water and wastewater treatment process facilities, rail infrastructure, mining infrastructure, electrical substations, marine works and pipeline rehabilitation: the complex infrastructure needed to build better communities.
About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our New South Wales team, based at our Regents Park office.
As a Mechanical Estimator at Abergeldie, you will play a key role in tendering across mechanical scopes within water and infrastructure projects. This includes treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines and associated mechanical systems. You will prepare accurate and competitive estimates that reflect project scope, identify risks and opportunities and contribute to value engineering outcomes.
This is an opportunity to work on technically complex projects that support essential infrastructure and deliver meaningful outcomes for communities.
Key responsibilities include
Reviewing tender documentation to ensure mechanical scope and requirements are fully understood and capturedPreparing detailed cost estimates, take-offs and methodologies for mechanical worksCoordinating and engaging subcontractors and suppliers for mechanical packagesAssessing risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tendersPreparing tender submissions for internal review and approvalSupporting post-tender clarification, negotiations and client engagement
What You'll Bring To The Team
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProven experience estimating mechanical packages within water or infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, pipework, valves and treatment equipmentAbility to manage your own tenders while contributing to broader bid teamsStrong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills with high attention to detailExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsFamiliarity with Australian standards, contract specifications and estimating software
