About the role
Overview of Role: The maintenance team is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the physical infrastructure and facilities within our retirement community, located in Gilead. The role requires a proactive individual who can efficiently perform maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for the residents. The Maintenance officer reports to the Maintenance Manager and is required to collaborate with the village management team, residents, and external contractors to coordinate and execute required repairs, maintenance, and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities:
General Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks across the village including buildings, grounds, equipment, and amenities.
Residents Support: Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents, prioritise tasks, and resolve issues efficiently, ensuring resident satisfaction.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations. Identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Budgeting and reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenses, and inventory. Provide input into monthly reports on maintenance projects, including progress, known costs, and recommendations for improvement.
Communication and Collaboration: Maintain positive relationships with residents, staff, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with the team to identify maintenance needs, plan projects, and communicate effectively with residents regarding maintenance schedules and updates.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a retirement living or similar environment. Trade qualification in building discipline desirable.
Trade qualification in any building discipline is desirable for this role.
Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of building systems and maintenance practice, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs. Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards.
Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge is required for building systems maintenance.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Sound analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues, identify appropriate solutions, and prioritise tasks effectively.
Communication Skills: Sound verbal and written communication skills to interact with residents, staff, and contractors professionally and effectively. Ability to convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
