Business Development Manager - APAC East

Wood is recruiting a Business Development Manager to join its Operations business supporting energy clientele in the Asia Pacific (APAC) East region.  This is a permanent role within the Growth & Development team and will be based in the Brisbane or Melbourne office.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Director, you will drive an aligned and structured approach to business development with responsibility to assist the growth of the APAC East Operations portfolio with a particular focus on securing new contracts and projects within the conventional energy, petrochemical, and renewable sectors.  You will also engage and collaborate with Wood’s Consulting and Projects businesses to deliver seamless lifecycle solutions across Asset Management, Operations, Maintenance and Brownfield Engineering Modifications.

In this highly visible role, you will be instrumental in customer relationship development, positioning, planning and pursuit of major contracts throughout the region, including travel for engagement with clients, suppliers, and industry bodies across APAC.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and growing client relationships, both new and existing, which align with Wood’s corporate and regional strategic plans
• Collaborating with the operational teams, leveraging Wood’s global capabilities to bring innovative and smart solutions to new and existing customers
• Collaborating with other Wood functions, entities, and service lines to ensure an aligned and structured approach to business development and winning new work
• Working closely with the operations teams regionally to assess risks and opportunities in new business growth including new country start up, JV start up and integration of acquisitions
• Supporting the implementation and management of JV/acquisitions up to the point of transition to day-to-day operations
• Working closely with the Proposal team to prepare compelling bid submissions
• Leading contract pursuits in conjunction with the Proposal Manager
• Role modelling Wood’s vision, values, and behaviours

Suitably qualified, ideally you will be a Business Development professional currently in a similar role within the O&G Engineering / EPCM sector in Eastern Australia.  Exposure to other industries would also be advantageous.  

You are a relationship builder with proven experience securing a blend of Engineering, Operations, Maintenance & Asset Management business from term contracts to stand alone projects (reimbursable/ lump sum) ranging from $1M - $100M (AUD) in value.

With a career as diverse as it is deep, you will have an established and broad reaching network complemented by a range of relevant commercial experience across LNG and Major Projects.  Commercially astute and technology savvy, you will also have a passion for Energy Transition with the vision to navigate the energy models of the future coupled with the industry insight required to support our clients to be more efficient, sustainable, and optimised to deliver the best energy mix in their respective markets.
