Nextstep Community Care is a registered NDIS provider delivering supported accommodation, community nursing, personal care, community participation and support coordination. We put the people we support at the centre of everything we do, promoting independence, wellbeing and genuine participation in community life.
We are looking for warm, reliable Disability Support Workers to join our team and make a real difference in the daily lives of our participants.
About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person centred care and support to participants, helping them build independence and stay actively involved in their community. You will work alongside participants, their families and other stakeholders to make sure each person's needs, choices and goals are met with dignity and respect.
Key responsibilities
Provide care, support and training that promotes independence and helps participants maintain their skills.
Support participants with personal care, health and hygiene in a way that preserves dignity and choice.
Assist with everyday domestic tasks including shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and general household duties.
Support participants with medication, mobility, and mealtime assistance as required.
Help participants build community skills and take an active part in community life.
Support decision making, problem solving and the maintenance of meaningful family, social and personal connections.
Ensure all support is delivered in the least restrictive manner, mindful of dignity of risk and duty of care.
Complete administration tasks so that participant goals are achieved.
About you
Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Disability, Youth or Community Services.
Current driver's licence, own car and comprehensive insurance.
Current First Aid certificate.
Working With Children Check and National Criminal Record Check.
NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Understanding of disability standards and Child Safe Standards.
Experience supporting people with disability who have high and complex needs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills.
Relevant experience providing support in an accommodation setting or similar environment.
