About the role
Paddock to Port is a Container Management & Transport business based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. We offer a range of services for our clients, from container management to quarantine and warehousing.
We are currently seeking a Fleet Controller to work with our dynamic team based in Sunshine West.
Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare next-day operations, including container preloads and driver rosters
Allocate jobs to contract drivers and communicate start times clearly
Book import containers promptly upon availability and assign to same-day or next-day runs
Monitor 1-Stop container lists and proactively book timeslots to avoid wharf storage charges
Maintain strict oversight of missed or late wharf slots
Maximise two-way container utilisation by matching imports with exports
Manage container fleet bookings efficiently, optimising performance and compliance
Ensure timely return of empty containers to avoid detention fees
Monitor and manage driver work hours in line with fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations
Account management
Maintain tight control of fleet and subcontractor driver usage
Deliver strong forward planning and problem-solving in a high-pressure environment
Wharf time slotting – highly desirable
About You:
Proven experience as a Fleet Controller – minimum of 3 years experience
3 years Fleet Controller experience in container transport operations
Strong understanding of container transport operations, including wharf pickups and deliveries
Solid knowledge of 1-Stop, Container chain, and ideally Freight Tracker (preferred but not essential)
Sound geographical knowledge of the Melbourne metro area
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise in a dynamic, high-volume environment
Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractor relationships and performance
Ability to work independently and without supervision
Australian work rights are required for this position
