About the role

We're looking for energetic, reliable people to join our Function & Events team on a casual basis. You'll be part of a hands-on crew delivering events and functions across UNE Life's venues — both on campus and in the wider Armidale community. From corporate dinners and graduation celebrations to community events and private functions, no two shifts are the same.

This is a fast-paced, physical role that includes evenings, weekends, and public holidays. If you thrive in a team environment, love delivering great service, and enjoy the buzz of live events — we want to hear from you.

You'll be responsible for:

• Setting up and packing down event spaces efficiently, maintaining the integrity of all equipment

• Delivering outstanding customer service across all aspects of event delivery — bar, table service, food service, and kitchen support as required

• Assisting in delivering on-the-ground support for UNE Graduation, Open Day, and other major university events

• Liaising with clients and guests in a professional, friendly manner

• Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards at all times

• Implementing responsible service of alcohol, harm minimisation, and smoke-free policies

• Working across multiple venues and locations as required

• Supporting the Events Coordinator and wider team to ensure seamless event execution

About you

You're someone who brings energy, initiative, and a genuine passion for hospitality. You're comfortable on your feet, can think on the go, and take pride in delivering a great experience for every guest. You handle pressure well, adapt quickly, and work collaboratively with your team.

You'll have:

• A proven commitment to excellent customer service

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently under pressure

• A current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)

• A current manual driver's licence and the ability to travel between sites

• Food Safety awareness training (or willingness to obtain)

• A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

• Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

• The ability to perform physically demanding tasks

• Availability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays

About the Function & Events team

UNE Life is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the experience of students, staff, and the wider Armidale community. Our Function & Events team delivers a diverse range of events — from intimate dinners to large-scale celebrations — across some of the region's most unique venues. We're a tight-knit crew that values teamwork, high standards, and having a good time while we work.

Position Details

• Employment type: Casual

• Award: Hospitality Industry (General) Award – Level 2, Food & Beverage Attendant Grade 2

• Reports to: Events Coordinator

• Location: Armidale, NSW (across multiple UNE Life venues, including off-campus)

• Hours: Variable — evenings, weekends, and public holidays required.

·        A current resume containing details of 2 referees. At least one referee should have a thorough knowledge of your work over the past 2 years as your manager or supervisor;
