Graduate Commodity Associate (Mandarin Speaker) – Coal Procurement |📍 Sydney, Australia | 🏠 Current Fully Remote (5 days WFH) | Full-time
Our client is the Australian representative office of a world-leading global manufacturing group. As part of their international expansion, they are looking for a Commodity Associate to join their Sydney-based team, supporting coal procurement from major Australian producers and helping grow the business across international markets.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially-minded, bilingual professional to work at the intersection of commodity trading, international logistics, and customer relationship management — engaging directly with some of the world's largest mining companies.
What you'll do:
Support the sourcing and purchasing of coal from major Australian mining companies, including BHP, Anglo American, Glencore, and other leading producersExpand domestic and international market business across various product linesDevelop and maintain strong customer relationships; arrange and conduct customer visitsManage customer accounts and projects to meet performance and business targetsMonitor and analyze shipping/logistics markets and broader international trade conditionsCollect, organize, and analyze market intelligence to support sourcing and business decisionsIdentify and help develop new business lines and growth opportunities
What we're looking for:
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written) — essentialMust be based in Sydney, AustraliaYou must currently hold, and be able to maintain, valid working rights in Australia — this position is unable to offer visa sponsorship now or in the futureExperience in commodity trading, procurement, or business development — ideally within coal, mining, steel, shipping, or international trade is a plusStrong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skillsSolid analytical skills, comfortable working with market data and reportsUnderstanding of international trade practices; shipping/logistics knowledge a plusBachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, international trade, engineering, or mining-related disciplines)Australian driver's license preferred
