About the role
Big Mouth Foods is a fast-growing fresh chilled food manufacturer. Under our Big Crunch brand, we supply high-quality grab-and-go products - including ready-to-eat sushi, onigiri, rice paper rolls, salads, soups and meal options - to retailers and foodservice customers across Australia.
We are known for our innovative range of Asian street-food products. As a high-care chilled food manufacturer, we are committed to safe food, consistent quality and reliable service every day.
This role would suit an experienced Food Production Quality Assurance Officer who enjoys being on the factory floor, checking that products meet food-safety and quality standards, and helping the team improve processes.
Key responsibilities
· Maintain HACCP, GMP and food-safety standards across the factory.
· Monitor production processes to ensure products meet requirements for weight, temperature, labelling and appearance.
· Carry out regular quality inspections and internal audits.
· Ensure compliance with relevant standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Investigate non-conformances and support corrective actions.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, records and compliance reports.
· Help maintain and improve food-safety and quality procedures, forms and checklists.
· Support customer audits and food-safety regulatory inspections when required.
· Assist with the development and delivery of internal food-safety and quality audit programs.
· Induct new staff in food handling and hygiene requirements, and support QA training on the production line.
Skills, qualifications and experience
· Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Microbiology or a related field.
· Experience in food manufacturing, hospitality or retail food
· Understanding of HACCP, GMP and food-safety regulations
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude when working with production teams.
· Organised and accurate with documentation, records and data entry.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-care chilled production environment and spending time on your feet.
· Current Food Safety or Safe Food Handling Certificate.
· Full working rights in Australia.
