Non-Executive Board Director Finance (Voluntary) - Remote / Work From Home

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Foundation is at the forefront of improving critical care for patients across Australia and New Zealand. We are a not for profit organisation dedicated to raising funds for vital clinical research and the education of healthcare professionals. Our work directly impacts the lives of thousands of critically ill patients, with the ultimate goal of increasing survival rates and enhancing the quality of life for ICU survivors.

We are seeking a voluntary Non-Executive Director (Finance) to join our Board and Executive Committee. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance or accounting professional to use their skills to support a purpose driven organisation making a real difference to patient care.

About the Role

Working closely with the Treasurer, you will support the Foundation's financial operations and reporting, enabling the Treasurer to focus on strategic financial oversight, governance and Board leadership.

As a member of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, you will contribute to the Foundation's strategic direction while providing practical financial expertise to support sound financial management and decision making.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Treasurer with financial reporting and operational financial oversight
• Reviewing monthly financial reports, budgets and cash flow
• Assisting with the preparation of Board financial papers and reports
• Providing oversight of accounting processes and internal financial controls
• Supporting the ongoing development of financial systems and processes
• Working closely with the Foundation's accountants and auditors to prepare and coordinate audit documentation
• Working with the Foundation’s fund manager to monitor and review the performance of its investment portfolio
• Working with management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Contributing to Board and Executive Committee discussions and strategic planning

The Board meets approximately six times per year via teams, with monthly Executive Committee meetings held between Board meetings.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who has:

• Qualifications in accounting, finance or a related discipline (CA, CPA or equivalent would be highly regarded)
• Experience in accounting, finance, auditing or financial management
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and governance
• Experience using Xero accounting software (or strong experience with comparable cloud based accounting systems)

• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• A commitment to good governance and the mission of the Foundation

Previous Board or not for profit experience is desirable but not essential.
