The Opportunity:
We are looking for dedicated Leisure and Lifestyle Officers to join our team. In this role, will support older persons’ dignity, independence, and wellbeing in alignment with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the new Aged Care Act 2024.
You will contribute in ensuring compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and organisational requirements.
What you’ll do:
Develop, plan, and implement recreational and leisure activities tailored to residents’ interests, preferences, and needs.
Encourage residents’ participation in activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Provide one-on-one support for residents with limited mobility or cognitive challenges, ensuring inclusion in all activities.
Monitor and review resident engagement and progress, adjusting activities as necessary to maintain interest and involvement.
Facilitate group activities, including arts and crafts, music, exercise, and social outings.
Ensure activities are culturally sensitive and inclusive, recognising the diverse backgrounds of residents.
Promote a balanced approach to mental and physical health, supporting emotional and social wellbeing.
Ensure all activities adhere to relevant safety guidelines and risk management processes.
Collaborate with the care team to address individual residents’ health needs as they relate to leisure activities.
Ensure compliance with the new strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards including:
Maintain documentation of all activities, including participation levels and feedback from residents and families.
Participate in continuous improvement activities, audits, and feedback systems related to leisure and lifestyle services.
Adhere to policies related to open disclosure, incident reporting (SIRS), and WHS requirements.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent. Or Certificate IV (Desirable)
Experience in planning and delivering recreational and leisure programs for older adults.
Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate respectfully with residents, families, and colleagues.
Commitment to dignity, rights, cultural safety, and person-centred care.
Experience working with residents with diverse needs, including those living with dementia or physical impairments.
Speak Arabic (desirable)
