Dependable Care DRPS provides disability support and supported accommodation services across Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania. We are a registered NDIS, TAC and WorkCover provider.
We are committed to delivering individualised, meaningful and person-centred services. We specialise in supporting people with psychosocial disabilities, including individuals experiencing homelessness, limited informal support or other circumstances in which they require a stable residential environment and a reliable support network.

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Residential Care Officer to join our supported accommodation services in Melbourne.
The Residential Care Officer will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the welfare of persons with disability living in a group residential setting. The role involves understanding residents’ circumstances and difficulties, providing appropriate care and guidance, following their progress, coordinating access to additional services and maintaining communication with families and relevant service providers.
Tasks and duties
Meet with residents, families, representatives or guardians to understand their individual circumstances, support requirements and the difficulties affecting their wellbeing.
Provide residents with appropriate care, guidance and supervision within the supported residential environment.
Help residents understand the services and support arrangements available to them and assist families to remain informed about residents’ ongoing support.
Follow residents’ progress, maintain accurate case notes and prepare reports regarding their wellbeing, participation and response to existing support arrangements.
· Review and follow up residents’ care arrangements to ensure that agreed services are being delivered consistently and continue to respond to their circumstances.
Recognise when residents require assistance beyond the services available within the organisation and connect them with appropriate welfare agencies, healthcare providers or other support services.
Work collaboratively with residents’ families, healthcare professionals, welfare agencies and other service providers to coordinate the assistance available to residents.
Contribute to required reports and submissions and ensure that relevant documentation meets organisational, funding and regulatory compliance requirements.
Maintain a safe, respectful and supportive residential environment that promotes residents’ dignity and welfare.
Perform all duties in accordance with organisational policies, privacy requirements, safeguarding obligations, workplace health and safety procedures and duty-of-care responsibilities.
Skills and experience requirements
An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a field relevant to residential care; Alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience in residential care may substitute for the formal qualification.
At least one year highly relevant experience to this role.
Demonstrated ability to understand residents’ circumstances, identify support requirements and maintain appropriate records and reports.
Strong written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
A compassionate and empathetic approach, with patience and a genuine commitment to supporting residents’ dignity and wellbeing.
Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment while working within established organisational policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a support team.
Current Working with Children Check.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Current National Police Check.
