We are looking for an experienced Fitter to join our close-knit workshop team, where you'll play a key role in pump maintenance, overhauls and rebuilds. You'll apply your technical skills in machining and precision measurement while supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions for the mining industry. Experience with Weir pumps and shutdown work will be highly regarded.

What You’ll Do

Workshop Maintenance: Perform pump stripping, inspection, measurement, rebuilding, and assembly work to OEM specifications primarily at the Wingfield workshop. Field Service & Shutdown Support: Provide periodic field service and shutdown support, mainly in Whyalla and other mine sites as required, including night shifts and travel. Measurement & Quality Control: Use micrometers, vernier callipers, and other precision tools to inspect components, assess tolerances, and support quality decisions during pump rebuilds. Physical & Safety Demands: Undertake physically demanding, heavy, and sometimes dirty mechanical work, especially during shutdowns, while maintaining strong safety awareness. Team Collaboration: Work effectively in small crews, communicate clearly, and collaborate across the workshop and broader business to meet time-sensitive shutdown schedules. Travel Requirements: Be comfortable traveling to Whyalla and other sites for shutdowns, including night shifts of 10 to 12 hours, with accommodation and allowances provided. What You’ll Bring

Must-haves:

Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent Fitter/Fitter and Turner qualification. Proven experience in heavy industry, mining, quarrying, crushing, conveying, or similar industrial environments. Competency in accurate mechanical measurement using micrometers, vernier callipers, and internal/external measuring techniques. Strong safety focus with the ability to undertake physically demanding mechanical work safely.

Nice-to-haves:

Experience with pump maintenance, stripping, or rebuilds, preferably with Weir pumps. Previous mine-site or field-service exposure, including shutdown work. Machining background or precision measurement experience.
