Financial Accountant

Wood has an immediate need for a Financial Accountant to join our Professional Services team based in our Perth office which is located centrally in the CBD.  We are a leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services and positioned for growth across Australia, South East Asia and the globe.

Our ideal candidate will undertake financial accounting, monthly management reporting and apply their skills across the Professional Services business to ensure efficiency and effective best practice.  This is a role where we value interpersonal skills to advise, inform and influence managers while providing strong financial controls.

In this role you will 

• Participate in all financial operations of the company including reporting, forecasting, budgeting, invoicing and cash management, accounts payable / receivable and payroll
• Working collaboratively, you will build relationships with operations colleagues across our Professional Services business to gain a clear understanding of the business underlying the numbers and provide financial decision support analysis
• Undertake management responsibility for the APAC Finance team through appropriate structure to facilitate completion of accurate and timely month-end figures
• Develop and share continuous improvement in process and analysis of business contracts aligned with the Integrated Management System
• Complete cost-of-sales analysis, P&L analysis and balance sheet preparation for specific business areas
• Support the General Manager and Finance Manager to provide quality business reporting, commercial analysis and commercial control, supporting both intern and external stakeholders

We are seeking a fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and operational experience is essential.  

• Previous experience in a similar position for at least 5 years, including providing Financial Control across a group of consulting companies
• Experience in the application of internal control procedures and frameworks
• Sound understanding of internal payroll systems
• Effective leadership skills in a dynamic environment
• Experience in the implementation of processing and control systems and demonstrated ability in business process improvement
• Sound and up to date knowledge of GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Advanced Excel skills and familiar with Hyperion, Xero, Astute or similar payroll system software
• Strong interpersonal skills, confidence and the ability to work effectively within a small tight-knit team
• Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
