About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Role
The Senior Program Advisor works within the First Nations Curriculum and Truth-telling Unit, Koorie Outcomes Division. This Unit is responsible for the development and delivery of resources, guidance and professional learning that improve the quality of teaching of First Nations history, culture and perspectives across the curriculum, and support truth-telling in the curriculum. The Unit also provides supports to schools to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes for First Nations students.
In this role, you will support the unit's important work in helping schools embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in the curriculum, while also taking on key responsibilities for the management and implementation of the Koorie Literacy and Numeracy Program.
To support the broad objectives of the unit and the targeted implementation of the Koorie and Literacy Program the successful candidate will:
Experience in the education sector, including knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum, public policy and the First Nations community sector is highly desirable.
