Head Chef

About the role

As Head Chef, you'll run the kitchen day-to-day and report directly to the Restaurant Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume venue and wants ownership over kitchen standards, food cost, and team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, roster and develop the back-of-house team

• Own kitchen standards and consistency across all service periods

• Manage food cost, stock control, ordering and supplier relationships

• Ensure full compliance with food safety and WHS requirements

• Drive menu development in line with the venue's brand and concept

• Train, onboard and mentor kitchen staff

• Work closely with the Restaurant Manager on venue-wide standards and peak-period planning

About you

• Proven knowledge of handling and cooking steak.

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or senior Sous Chef in a high-volume venue

• Current Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Strong leadership, communication and rostering skills

• A cool head and steady pace during busy, high-energy service

• Availability across evenings and weekends

• A genuine passion for hospitality and building a great team culture
