About the role
Join Roy Morgan and be part of a team conducting face-to-face interviews that capture the views, experiences and behaviours of Australians. As a Field Interviewer, you'll visit selected households in your local community, introduce yourself on behalf of Roy Morgan, and invite people to take part in important research.
This is a face-to-face field role involving door knocking and engaging with households that are generally not expecting your visit. Your ability to build rapport, communicate confidently and remain resilient will play a key role in your success.
Our Field Interviewers collect accurate, high-quality data that informs government, business and community decisions across the country.
What you'll do
Initiate conversation and engage with participants who are generally not expecting your visit and invite them to participate in impactful researchBuild rapport quickly, manage refusals and objections professionally, and ensure informed consentConduct accurate, structured interviews on a wide range of topics using a tabletRecord observations, follow safety and privacy protocols, and maintain strict confidentialityPlan your weekly schedule to meet agreed hours, including at least one weekend dayAll interviews are conducted using Roy Morgan's secure systems. We provide full training, a clear field manual, and ongoing support from experienced field managers.

Comfortable with door knocking: You're confident approaching households that aren't expecting your visit and can quickly establish trust and credibility.Resilient relationship-builder: You bounce back from a "no", stay friendly and professional, and approach the next household with the same energy.Empathetic communicator: You listen well, handle sensitive topics with care, and adapt your communication style to suit different people and households.Organised self-starter: You manage your time effectively, plan routes, keep accurate records, and work independently to achieve outcomes.Tech-comfortable: You're confident using tablets and following on-screen scripts, procedures and protocols.Nice-to-have: Experience in field interviewing, door-to-door outreach, customer service, hospitality, retail, community services, education, fundraising or call centre environments.

Essentials
Availability of 20+ hours per week (including one weekend day; flexibility to add hours at peak times)Current driver's licence and a reliable, registered vehicleFluent English (spoken and written) and the legal right to work in AustraliaWillingness to obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children's Check (paid by Roy Morgan)
