As we continue to grow our Commercial Law practice, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

This is an opportunity for a 3+ PQE Commercial Lawyer who wants to do more than contribute to a practice. We’re looking for someone who wants to help build it, develop a team and grow into a leadership position.

The Role

You’ll join our Commercial Law practice as a senior member of the team and work closely with the Managing Partner across a broad portfolio of transactional and advisory commercial matters.

As the practice continues to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for clients, workflow and junior team members, with a genuine pathway towards Senior Associate, Special Counsel and ultimately leading a team or division.

What You’ll Do

Commercial Advisory

• Advise businesses on structures, governance, contracts and general commercial matters
• Act as a trusted adviser to retainer clients and manage their day-to-day legal needs
• Translate complex legal issues into clear, practical and commercially focused advice
• Develop long-term relationships with clients across a range of industries

Drafting & Negotiation

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements
• Work across shareholder agreements, company constitutions, employment and contractor agreements, terms and conditions, confidentiality deeds and other commercial contracts
• Review incoming contracts and advise on commercial and legal risks
• Tailor agreements to meet client-specific needs and risk profiles

Transactional

• Act for vendors and purchasers on mergers and acquisitions
• Draft and review commercial and retail leases
• Advise clients across a range of commercial transactions
• Support businesses as they grow, restructure and evolve

Team Leadership & Development

• Help lead, supervise and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals
• Allocate and oversee workflow as the team grows
• Support the development of junior team members
• Help build a collaborative, high-performing team culture
• Develop your own leadership and people-management skills

Client & Practice Development

• Manage a portfolio of clients independently
• Become a trusted first point of contact for key clients
• Build deep, long-term client relationships
• Develop your business development and networking skills
• Learn how to identify, attract and win new work
• Contribute to the growth and direction of the Commercial Law practice

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years PQE in Commercial Law
• Strong experience across corporate/commercial advisory and contract work
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
• Commercial acumen and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
• Confidence managing client relationships independently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of your matters
• Interest in leading, managing and developing a team
• Experience supervising junior lawyers or paralegals is highly regarded
• NSW admission with a current practising certificate
