Dowsing Group is a family-owned, multidisciplinary civil contractor delivering specialised infrastructure services to government and private sector clients across Australia.  

Founded in 1985, Dowsing has grown from a specialist concrete contractor into a full-service civil construction company with a team of more than 150 people. We self-perform a broad range of services, including civil construction, road works, concrete footpaths and kerbing, slipform construction, road profiling, and diamond grinding.

The role

Reporting directly to the HR Manager, this is a hands-on generalist role covering the full HR lifecycle. You'll be the first point of contact for employees, supervisors and managers across the business – handling everything from recruitment and onboarding through to day-to-day advisory, compliance, and ER support.

Key Duties:

• End-to-end recruitment – advertising, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks, and liaising with hiring managers

• Onboarding and contract preparation for new starters

• Day-to-day HR advice to employees and managers on policies, awards, and people matters

• Supporting performance management, probation reviews, and ER matters

• Maintaining accurate employee records in our HRIS (ELMO)

• Contributing to reporting, policy implementation, and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

• 2+ years in an HR Officer or similar generalist role

• Solid understanding of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and EAs

• Strong end-to-end recruitment experience

• Comfortable working across a blue-collar, multi-site workforce – construction or civil industry experience is a plus

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ELMO experience advantageous

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• We'll also consider strong candidates from a recruitment background who are looking to broaden into a generalist HR role.
