About the role
About the Team
The MPS (Machine & Production Support) team plays a critical role in keeping Sigma Healthcare's specialised packing and checking equipment running reliably across our operations and customer sites.
While you'll be the only technician based at our Oakleigh site, you'll never be on your own. You'll be part of a highly experienced national team including technicians in Brisbane and Sydney who stay closely connected through regular collaboration, team chats and knowledge sharing.
It's a team with exceptional tenure, with many members having been with the business for years. Why? Because people are trusted to do their jobs. We have a team of capable professionals who enjoy the flexibility, autonomy and responsibility that comes with being empowered to make decisions and solve problems.
If you're someone who enjoys variety, likes figuring things out and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly, you'll find this role both challenging and highly rewarding.
About the Opportunity
Based from our Oakleigh facility, the role of the Service Technician will operate Monday - Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm; responsible for maintaining, repairing, servicing and optimising specialised packing and production equipment at our Oakleigh facility and selected customer sites across Victoria.
This is a role for someone who enjoys getting hands-on. One moment you might be dismantling a machine, thoroughly cleaning it and rebuilding it to ensure it continues to operate effectively. The next, you'll be troubleshooting a mechanical fault, adjusting machine settings, replacing parts, configuring equipment or helping resolve a local IT issue.
Because Oakleigh is a smaller facility, you'll become a valued go-to person for a range of technical challenges. Whether it's repairing equipment, replacing a PC, managing spare parts inventory or identifying a solution to a problem you've never seen before, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact every day.
Most importantly, we're less concerned with having someone who's done everything before. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.
What Will You Be Doing?
Who Are We Looking For?
This role will suit someone who enjoys solving problems and takes ownership of their work.
You might already have experience servicing photocopiers, printers, production equipment, packaging machinery, manufacturing equipment or similar electromechanical systems. Equally, you may have developed your skills in another technical environment and simply enjoy figuring things out.
Most importantly, you'll bring:
Why Join Us?
Real autonomy and trust
Be the technical expert onsite in Oakleigh, with the freedom to manage your day, prioritise your work and make decisions.
Variety every day
From machine repairs and preventative maintenance to technical problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives, no two days are the same.
Supportive team culture
Join a collaborative national team that genuinely enjoys helping each other, sharing knowledge and celebrating success.
Long-term career opportunity
Work alongside experienced team members with years of technical expertise and tenure, while continuing to build your own skills.
A welcoming site environment
Oakleigh is a small, close-knit facility with knowledgeable long-serving employees, onsite lunchroom facilities, lockers for end-of-trip use, nearby cafés and shopping options all within walking distance.
Our Interview Process
Stage 1: A virtual Teams interview with the hiring manager, based in Brisbane and the Site Manager in Oakleigh, who you’ll work closely with day-to-day.
Stage 2: Onsite interview and facility walkthrough, giving you the opportunity to see the equipment, meet the team and gain a genuine understanding of the role and working environment.
This hands-on walkthrough helps candidates understand the machinery and day-to-day responsibilities, allowing both you and the team to assess whether it's the right fit.
