Library Customer Service Officer

Employment Status: Fixed term (late August 2026 until Feb 2027)
Days & Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, totalling 35 hours per week plus rostered weekends
Competitive Salary: Band 3 - $69,216.85 pro rata + 12% superannuation
Location: Beaumaris Library - may be required to work at any Bayside library

About the Role:

Bayside Libraries is focused on delivering outstanding library experiences for our community. Our Libraries offer an inclusive social space offering a range of social opportunities for our community and services including lending of all formats, an extensive local history collection and fantastic e-resources.

As a Library Customer Service Officer, you will the welcoming face of the libraries, providing exceptional customer service to members of the community. A key focus of this role is providing community-centric customer service and supporting our community with accessing library resources and technologies. 

You will be responsible for:

• Provide welcoming community focused customer service
• Facilitate access to the collection through membership, promotion, circulation and shelving of library resources
• Provide information to customers about library resources, programs and services
• Support customers to navigate digital technologies
• Assist with promotional activities as directed by the Branch Librarian to grow library membership and usage
• Select items for Home Library Service customers and deliver if required
• Prepare and deliver Adult, Children’s and Outreach programs

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Previous public library experience (desirable) 
• Provide a high-quality customer experience to both external and internal customers
• Provide high quality administrative duties
• Support the delivery of library programs and events

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
